Get your message templates approved
4 steps · About 6 minutes
What you will finish with. A template approved by Meta that you can send to any opted-in contact.
Who this is for. Anyone who wants to start conversations or send campaigns on WhatsApp.
1
Write the template in NexlyFlow
Open Templates and press New template. Give it a lowercase name with underscores, for example
order_confirm. Pick the right category: Utility for order and account updates, Marketing for offers and re-engagement, Authentication for one-time codes.2
Use variables the right way
Variables look like
{{1}}, {{2}} and are filled in when you send. Never start or end the message with a variable, never put two variables next to each other, and always give Meta a realistic sample value for each one.3
Submit and wait
Press Submit for approval. Meta usually answers within minutes, sometimes up to 24 hours. The status in your Templates list updates automatically to approved or rejected.

Use it
Approved templates can be sent from Campaigns, or from a conversation when the 24-hour window has closed.
Why templates get rejected
- It reads like an advertisement but is filed as Utility. Anything promotional must be submitted as Marketing.
- Placeholder text left in. “Hi {{1}}, your {{2}} is {{3}}” with no sample values tells the reviewer nothing.
- Spelling and grammar mistakes, or ALL CAPS shouting.
- A link that does not work, or a URL shortener Meta cannot inspect.
- Asking for sensitive data — passwords, full card numbers, government ID numbers.
Rejected is not final. Fix the wording and submit again — there is no penalty for resubmitting, and most templates pass on the second try.
